Many things are very modern in Turkey like in western Europe but many things are still very different. In Turkey gay culture is completly different than USA and western Europe. Turkey is only the moslem country which gay action is not illegal and like most of islamic countries, almost every man would have sex with another man. in Turkish culture actually in moslem culture if two men are having sex with eachother that does not mean that they are gay it is just part of hidden culture and they just do it and mostly they dont talk about it. Usually gay mean someone feminine and passive. Istanbul is the biggest city in Turkey and the best city in the middle east and eastern Europe for gay men to visit. There are many gay clubs, bars, discos, hamams, saunas and cruising areas in istanbul. There are also some gay movies in istanbul but the things you can do there are limited, you just can sit next to someone and touch him or sometime people give each other blow job too.
Taksim park is most known gay cruising park in istanbul, not only in the park, gay men/boys hang around all over the square especially around monument and many hustlers hang around Burger king right across monument in taksimsquare. lately because of bad economical stuation in Turkey, they opened several gay escort boys bars in istanbul and most of the boys go to those bars are straight and they just want to be top. Most of the hotels in istanbul dont let you to bring someone to your room, there are many cheap hotels in taksim square and many gay men go there when they meet someone to ahve fun with. Istanbul gay guide, important security note for gay men who are visiting istanbul.
Istanbul is one of the safest city in the world, and you definitelly will have fun over here.Like all big cities in the world, in Istanbul also there are some criminal people and there are some points you have to be careful about.
1-If in Taksim square and on istiklal street or in blue mosque area, someone you dont know invite you to go somewhere to drink something with him, dont go with him. They (he) want to take you to some bar in taksim square and will rob you there ( they will charge you big bill) they are usually well dressed and always have some story to tell you to make you to believe them that they are safe. If you meet someone in Taksim area, you can take him to some cafe or bar where you know.
2- Never try to have sex in open air and dont go to parks for cruising in the night. if you meet someone and want to have fun with him, just take him to one of the cheap hotels in taksim area.
3-dont walk in dark and quiet areas in the evening or in the night.
4- Some taxi driver are criminal and when you pay them, they just switch the banknote and tell you that you gave them small bill. Always have change money with you when you take a taxi and never give taxi driver big banknote. When you leave your hotel, tell your hotel to call you a taxi when you need a taxi, and when you arrive to your hotel, ask the bellboy to help you to pay the taxi.

There are four main hotels districts in istanbul
1-Taksim
2- Sultanahmet
3-Sirkeci, Eminonu
4-Aksaray, Laleli, Sehzadebasi. -
Sirkeci (district 4) is a business area and in the evening and night it is very quiet and almost no one is around and it is not very good area to walk in the evening. -
Aksaray area (district 3) Most of the Russian and Romanian prostitutes in istanbul are staying in that area.
Taksim and Sultanahmet are the best areas to stay in istanbul. There are many nice old hotels in Sultanahmet, most of those hotels were old ottoman family houses and lately they have been renovated and turned into hotels. the good thing about staying in sultanahmet is taht it is close to most of the historical sites, and bed thing about it is too touristical prices are little higher and in the evening is is far from the night life and little boring in teh evening and night,
Taksim is the heart of istanbul and here you can see more local life, especially if you like night life and social life you should saty in Taksim. All of gay bars, clubs, hamams are in Taksim square area and Istiklal street is the first pedestrian street in Istanbul and Turkey. it is the main street in taksim where all the clubs bars restaurants are and it is busy untill 4:00-5:00 am.
There are no any gay hotels in istanbul, for safety reasons mostly you are not alowed to bring your Turkish guest to your room in Turkey . That does not mean that a tourist and a Turkish person can not stay in same room together. it is definitely no problem to stay with your turkish freiend in any hotel, if you chek in together with your Turkish friend or if you register him too at the hotel. in no any hotel in istanbul or anywhere else in Turkey you will have any problem or will be not welcome because you are gay. if you want to book your hotel online, dont to it through any travel agencies in istanbul or through any other web page other than hotel's own web page. Just go to hotel's own web page and make your reservation directly by the hotel, this is also cheapest and safest way.

There are several rent boys bars in istanbul and many boys are hanging around in taksim square area in the afternoon and in the evenings. most of the rent boys in istanbul are straight and they are top only. If you are thinking about going with one of the rent boys in istanbul, there are some points you have to be careful about.
Always take someone who people know him.
Before you take them make sure how much they want.
